6th Grade SOCIAL STUDIES: Ms. Roderick
Welcome historians, archaeologist, political scientists, geographers, and economists to sixth grade social studies! This year, we will study why the social sciences are important to our understanding of who we are and why humans form complex societies, beginning with the earliest peoples and their cultures. As we do so, we will travel to Ancient Egypt, Nubia, Mesopotamia, and Central and South America. We will learn how and why writing developed, the importance of trade to ancient societies, and how geography shaped early civilization. It will be an exciting year as we step back in time and learn where we have come from, gain insight into who we are now, and perhaps predict where human civilization may go in the future. Let's go!
