Minutes
Tuesday, October 16, 2007
Present: Susan Travers, Nancy Winslow, Erin Atwood, Jane Peters, Lois Borgesi, Stacey Klimkosky, Brian Davis. Guest for coffee only: Sara Hutchings
- Call to Order—the meeting was called to order at 8:10 am
- Approval of Minutes—Jane made a motion, none opposed. Approved.
- The Pandemic Plan is almost complete with the exception of Attachment F (Liberal Sick Leave Policy). We will also include an Internet Access Survey to see how many families have internet access and get their email addresses. This will go home next week.
- Coordinated Program Review
- Brian distributed the corrective action plan items.
- Must be delivered two times per year to the School Committee. Brian distributed a draft that will be brought to the School Committee on Nov. 5
- Brian reported that the budget will be going up due to SPED costs, bus contract and physical plant needs. How do we show the town/taxpayers what they’re investing in? Suggested that we survey TCS graduates. Brian would like the School Council to develop a survey—one for students and one for parents. Erin suggested that we send a survey to the Middle School teachers about TCS students—ie, how prepared are they?
- New Members—we need to nominate some new parent members as Susan and Breon Bailey’s children have moved on to the Middle School
- School Committee received the proposed staffing needs list for 2008-2009. TCS needs to pick up the full time paraprofessional in kindergarten (cannot rely on the grant). Alice Reiselbach will move up to 4 days. Also, the Physical Plant projects were presented to the Committee—current and completed projects as well as the 5 year plan.
- Enrichment
- TEEA would like to fund enrichment programs—especially for the lower grades. Some items on the table include: Scrooged (performance), tour of the WHAT Theatre and production of a play
- Tercentennial Committee is looking for student help with programs (ghost tours, dance workshop)
- Community Center Playground—a designer will ask students what they would like to see. A plan will be drawn up and then displayed at school during the night conferences on Nov. 27.
- Adjournment—the meeting was adjourned at 9:04am.
