Kingsley Samuels - Grade 6

Winner - Peace Poetry Contest

Peace, respect, love

words of joy

words of life.

When you see a dove

Think of peace.

When you see an olive branch

Think of peace.

Peace, respect, love

Peace is like trees and plants growing in a field

Peace is like a cut being cared for anf healed.

Having peace ina the world makes you

Happy in the heart

Without peace in the world,

The world would fall apart

The world should be a peaceful place,

with no violence or weapons to face.

Peace is like saying I love you worldwide.

Peace is the knowledge that you possess inside.

As she soars through all the hate, all wrong

Leaves her wing.

It's stunning how much peace a small dove can bring.

Stop all the sadness, stop all the hate

Live in peace before it is too late.

Have respect for everyone

As you want everyone to have respect for you.

Mairead Hadley - Grade 6

Winner - Peace Poetry Contest

A World of Peace

Please,

Accept my imperfection

Accept my differences and uniqueness

Please,

Accept our equality

Let us dream and imagine

As far as the clouds

Let me show you my ideas

And then show me yours

Lend me your friendship

Share with me love

Forget about your religion and mine

About rich or poor

About being a man or a woman

Let light fill us both with

Joy and hope

One world of warmth

For our friendship to live

Beyond all else

Please,

Accept my imperfection

Accept my differences and uniqueness

Brittany Silva - Grade 6

Winner - Peace Poetry Contest

Peace

Peace is a community

sharing the World, hand in hand

destroying ideas of racism and war

living as one

Peace is friendship

holding hands of opposite colors

creating respect, justice and unison

for all the world to share

Peace is a flickering candle

lighting children's rooms at night

ridding the monsters

as the peacefulness of sleep drags their eyelids closed

Peace is a stream

trickling love into the Earth's veins

good will flowing free

in oceans of community

Peace is a white dove

flying over a sea of soldiers

forcing all to drop their weapons

creating dead silence
