CPC Information
What does the CPC stand for?
Community Partnership for Children (aka Preschool PTA or Preschool Parents group)

What is the CPC?
The CPC is a group of parents and guardians, the preschool teacher, Lynne Ready, the principal, Brian Davis and occasionally selectmen/women and other local community figures, all dedicated specifically to the needs and activities of the children of the preschool classroom.

What does the CPC do?
The CPC is an organization that provides the network and funding for anything that the preschool classroom and children may need, such as daily snacks and drinks, playground additions, specialty learning materials, self-portrait t-shirts, fun specialty workshops for the children and their parents, the end of the year picnic….and much more!

When does the CPC meet?
We typically meet once a month in the preschool classroom.  Meetings are held the second Monday of the month at 2:50 pm.  Childcare is provided for any children that come with their parents, from infants to youth.

How long are the meetings?
The meetings are structured with an agenda, and we make sure that all topics are covered within an hour.  This allows for everyone to plan their busy schedules accordingly.

Do you have to be a “member” and attend all meetings?
The CPC has a chairperson, a secretary and a treasurer that try to attend all of the meetings.  Attendance by any other parent/guardian is greatly welcomed and appreciated but is never required.  We would be very pleased to have someone attend once, twice, or five times throughout the year, if that is all they are able to do…any attendance and input will be greatly appreciated.

What are some examples of what the CPC has done in the past?
Last year the main fundraising events that the CPC coordinated were:

  • The “infamous” pie sale; homemade pies were baked, donated and sold at the annual Thanksgiving dinner at Truro Central School
  • A Yankee Candle sale was held in the Fall netting the CPC over $1,600.00
  • The sale of self-portrait preschooler art on t-shirts and other items such as tote bags, sweatshirts and many other items.

The money raised went to the children’s daily snacks, after school workshops in puppetry, music, science, and other activities various in class projects, after school parenting discussions related to childhood behavior,  sibling issues, and other open topics.  The year culminated with the fabulous end of year picnic!

Does the CPC support any other classrooms at TCS?
The CPC is designed specifically around the preschool, however often  activities and fundraising events include participation with the kindergarten class and parents as well.  This allows both classrooms to benefit from the after school workshops, and special in-class presentations.  Although our focus remains primarily on the preschool, we look forward to continuing to work with the kindergarten class in order to ensure a smooth transition for those children that will be “moving up” in the near future.

The other organization within the school is called the Truro Educational Enrichment Alliance (TEEA) aka the “T”.  Their fundraising efforts support the kindergarten through grade 6, so please keep this in mind as your child continues through the TCS school system.

Overall, the CPC is a casual meeting of people that are interested in being involved and adding positively to the children’s’ experiences during their year(s) in the Truro Preschool Classroom.  If you have any questions at all about the CPC, please feel free to contact us or Lynne anytime throughout the year.

Please look for the meeting agenda in your child’s mailbox a few days before the meeting.  It will include the exact date and topics of discussion for the meeting that month.  Thank you very much for your time, and we look forward to seeing you at one (or more!) of our meetings.

Here’s to a great year for our children in their preschool experience!
