Nature Journal (from Wellfleet Audubon)
Watch the video as our friends Spring and Brittnay (Spring is a teacher from Wellfleet Audubon who frequently comes to school) teach us how to make a nature journal from reusable materials. Also, review what a scientific observation is and how to use your nature journal.
Individual lessons for each grade level will be posted in your Science Google Classroom. I have included a few photos of me making my nature journal. I used a saltines box for the cover, some paper that a package came wrapped in for the pages and some twine that I use in my flower garden.

Backyard Scavenger Hunt
Take it outside and see how many things on the list you can find in your backyard. You can complete this challenge a couple of different ways:
1) check off all of the items you can find/see on the list. Can you spot them all?
2) give yourself a time limit (for example, 20 minutes). How many of each item can you spot? Use tally marks to keep track. Which item did you find the most examples of?
3) create your own list and have a family member go on YOUR hunt

The TCS Fairy House Challenge
Watch the video. Collect your materials. Make a plan. Build your house. Snap a photo and post it on your Science Google Classroom or ask a grownup to help you email it to me at klimkoskys@truromass.org. I'll be collecting the photos and making a slide show for everyone to see in the next couple of weeks.
