Mix-It-Up Lunch This beloved event has temporarily been suspended as we adhere to health and safety protocols during the pandemic.
On Tuesday, October 22nd Truro Central School celebrated our fifteenth year of participation in Mix-It-Up at Lunch Day, a nationwide initiative sponsored by Teaching Tolerance. Founded in 1991 by the Souther Poverty Law Center, Teaching Tolerance is dedicated to reducing prejudice, improving intergroup relations and supporting equitable school experiences for our children. In our continued effort to support an environment with less conflict and fewer instances of exclusion, children are seated at lunch with students across grade levels with whom they would not typically converse. Sixth graders host the lunch groups during both first and second lunch. Mix-It-Up-At Lunch Day helps students become more comfortable interacting with a variety of schoolmates. At TCS we are fortunate to be supported in our efforts by the T.E.E.A. who generously donate the funds to purchase fun items by which the students sort themselves into multi-grade lunch groups.
Mix-It-Up Lunch continues throughout the school year following the initial kick-off. Periodically students are "mixed" up at lunch, again sitting in cross grade level groupings. Many lively conversations take place and new friendships begin to grow!

Field Day
Our annual field day activities continue our focus on team building within our school community Teams are comprised of students grades K-6, with older students designated as team captains. Activities focus on fun and inclusive relay races followed by an all school cook-out. Family members are encouraged to volunteer during this end of the year school event!
2020 brought us a challenge that we met head on! Our first and hopefully last, Virtual Field Day was met with great success thanks to enthusiastic students, families and staff!
