Building a Bevin's Sailing Skiff
at the Cape Cod Maritime Museum

In 2015 and 2016, Truro Central School sixth graders embarked on the journey of their young lives.  They traveled to the Cape Cod Maritime Museum in Hyannis, MA to build a Bevin's Skiff.  The Bevin's Skiff was conceived as a hands-on math experience by Building to Teach--a program of the Alexandria Seaport Foundation.  Special thanks to the Cape Cod Maritime Museum and their wonderful Cook Boat Shop volunteers for being our STEAM partners!

OK Go: "The One Moment"

  • How were science, technology, engineering, art, and/or math used to create this video?
  • In the “behind the scenes” video, Damian Kulash, the lead singer of the band and director of the video, suggests that the video and the song are a metaphor for life—that just like they had “One take. One shot. One moment.” to complete the video, we as human beings need to think about using our personal “one moments” to make a difference. Why do you think they chose to slow down 4.2 seconds video to go along with the entire song?  What is “one moment” in your life when you feel you made a positive impact on your world?  What is something good you would like to do in the future that could make an impact?
