Suggested Enrichment Activities
Young children are hands on, interactive learners. They learn best when they are using their bodies and senses to explore materials and activities in the real world. They order and make sense of the information they take in through these experiences by communicating their observations and ideas to others by talking, drawing and dictating. With this in mind, I offer some suggestions for things you might do with your preschool child. Since repetition is one of the primary modes of learning for young children, all of these activities can be done again and again with ongoing benefit. Also keep in mind that young children need plenty of time to follow their interests and wander, dabble, focus, and engage in play in their own way and at their own pace. Be sure to leave plenty of open-ended time for exploration and discovery to occur.
